Jeff joins Aeon (at last)

6.30pm on Thursday 20th April 2017 and the members of Aeon Mark No.1312 gathered for their regular ‘business’ meeting at Leyland.

But election aside, there was a far more important of business to discharge.
Terry Ward, Roy Hayes, Peter Taylor, Gordon McKay,
Jeff Lucas, Dave Winder, Dave Stewart and Dave Bishop
Jeff Lucas, an extremely well known and popular member, at Leyland was to be a candidate for advancement into the Mark Degree, and where else could that take place but in Aeon.

Jeff’s long standing friends and co-members of Leyland St Andrews, Craft Lodge, Stewart Seddon and Chris Wild, ADC and Secretary respectively, had managed to pin him down just long enough for the paperwork to be completed and the scene was set.

Jeff’s friends from around the area had converged upon Wellington Park to witness the occasion, and what a treat they were in for.

The Worshipful Master, Dave Winder, opened the Lodge and quickly discharged the regular business of the Lodge. After the Master elect, Dave Stewart, and Treasurer elect, Bill Bruce, had thanked the brethren for the trust reposed in them, the Master quickly moved onto the advancement.

Jeff was received at the door of the Lodge by the Senior Deacon, Terry Ward, ably assisted by Dave Bishop the Junior Deacon.

In a well learnt and expertly delivered advancement Jeff was soon well on his way to becoming a Mark Mason.
Some things never change, Jeff shares a tale with Dave Bishop and Terry Ward
Peter Taylor, had requested that he might assist in the ceremony and occupied the Chair for the second half of the ceremony. In doing so Peter proved that he had lost none of his ability to jump into the chair and deliver a perfect ceremony.

In no time at all we were soon on our way downstairs to a super festive board provided and expertly served by the Wellington Park staff.

At the end of the evening only one question remained unanswered!

‘Jeff, why did you leave it so long to join this wonderful degree?

Aeon Mark meets in February, April and October, any Master Mason, interested in in joining this ‘happy degree’ can make contact via the website or the Provincial Office.
